Physical Education

Pupils will be encouraged to enjoy the disciplines, challenges and successes arising from a wide range of physical activities.

We will increase their self confidence, sense of well being and lay the foundations for a healthy lifestyle.

Children need to learn to win and lose with dignity which we believe sets a solid foundation for coping with situations in the future.

Whilst working to achieve success we encourage fair play first and foremost amongst team members, opponents and spectators to ensure that everyone is proud to be part of the Greenwich House experience.

Individual talent is recognised and encouraged by additional coaching in school, local clubs or county teams.

In the PE lessons a variety of sports will be covered including Football, TAG Rugby, Athletics, Cricket, Tennis, Netball, Rounders, Tri Golf, Dance and Swimming. We have been involved with the local tournaments and competitions. In recent years we have had many successful teams at these events and had Cricket, Rounders, Dodgeball, Archery and Swim teams representing ‘The Wolds’ at the Sainsbury’s School Games. A swim squad of 4 swimmers has also represented the East Midlands in the English Schools Swimming Association national finals for the last 5 years.

After school clubs include year round football when during the winter months we use the floodlit astroturf at the fantastic Meridian Leisure Centre. Hockey, Cricket, Netball and Athletics are also enjoyed at different points throughout the year.

All pupils enjoy a special prize giving and sports day at the end of the summer term. Even in the COVID hit summer of 2020 every bubble had their own socially distanced event.
